My primary turntable is a Thorens TD-145 
Kenwood KA 4006 integrated amplifier 
Realistic LAB-290 is my secondary turntable 
And a pair of Cerwin Vega 12T speakers   |

Yeah man! Hauling those speakers down to my basement was like building the pyramids, but it was worth it! haha

That's a neat setup!
I don't have anything too fancy. Just a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon connected with a cheap pre-amp to a Sony Surround Receiver and a pair of BIC Bookshelf Speakers.

How is the Debut Carbon? I've heard a lot of good things about it. Although my ears are more sensitive than the average listener, I don't really consider myself a true audiophile. So as such. I love it! I've only recently made that purchase less than 2 months ago after close to 25 years with the same Pioneer turntable I got as a Christmas present in high school. I would have thought that I would miss having auto start/reject capabilities, but it's actually a much more hands on experience and since I only ever listen to records if I want to sit and relax it's no big deal. If I'm doing chores I put my iPod on a dock and let it go. The Ortofon Red cartridge is much more sensitive than the cheap Audio Technica cartridge my Pioneer had. The first thing I noticed is that I didn't have to turn up my receiver as much to achieve the same volume level. |

I had a Debut ProJect III a few years ago, it was a nice table but I sold it to get my Thorens.

I had a Debut ProJect III a few years ago, it was a nice table but I sold it to get my Thorens. About the only difference between the two is the carbon fiber tonearm. I'd be surprised if there was much difference between the two sonically. Although now that I think about it maybe the stock cartridge is different between the two models. |
