Does anyone know where a good place to purchase the Thorens TD-240-2? I really like the look of this turntable and I like the fact that it is automatic. I want automatic more so i don't wear out the stylus prematurely. I don't know that I can afford the $1,100 price tag at the moment but I think this is my dream table. I think that is a ton of $$$ for a piece of audio equipment but the way i look at it I will probably never buy another table. I would even purchase it used as long as it is in very good condition. I saw it on ebay not that long ago listed for $500 used but I don't know if i trust ebay for a turntable.

Not sure about the TD-240-2 but I have a TD-145 that I bought used from ebay. I bought it because it has the automatic lift off feature. If you go the ebay route just check the feedback and make sure it's someone who sells turntables regularly, that way you're more likely to be dealing with someone who packages them well. Oh and make sure there is a return policy. I also bought a Technics 1200 off ebay one time and it was fine. Have you ever checked out vinyl nirvana? It's a really cool site and the guy who runs it does restoration on Thorens and AR turntables, amazing stuff! vinylnirvana.com
