Albums get reissued in different versions such as colored vinyl, new re-mixes, picture discs, stereo vs mono versions, etc…. Recently I've become more practical in my collecting, getting rid of doubles and just hanging onto the versions I listen to the most. Sometimes I'll pick up a different variation of an album I like. I don't buy the exact same one over again unless it's an upgrade, or if I get a good deal and plan to sell or trade it. Some collectors like to keep multiple copies of the exact same record. Do you like to have multiple copies of the exact same record?

I usually don't buy multiple copies of a record, but sometimes the deal is too good to pass up,and I'm always upgrading conditions too. Also,I sometimes forget if I have it or not [ applies to us older folk mostly ]. Extra copies of harder to find records is not a bad thing, especially if you like to trade.

I have multiple copies of a few records, such as Chinese Democracy. I open one for me to play, and bring with me to a concert to get signed, and then I keep a few sealed/stickered as collectibles. I don't do it with very many artists/albums though.

I have several copies, for now, of the first three original Tull albums. This has occurred for quite common reasons.. sound, label variation, yada yada
